We are making vegan Kaiserschmarrn in Pfelders/South Tyrol

Those who follow us on our social media channels know that we're up for (almost) anything. And that's exactly why we headed to the задний Passeiertal to Pfelders (South Tyrol) at a freezing -14 degrees to shoot some cool videos, take photos, and enjoy the day in the mountains.

The highlight of this day? We're cooking a delicious Kaiserschmarrn together, and this time it's even 100% vegan.

Drive to Pfelders

It's a sunny and cloudless day in February 2021. Currently, all restaurants in South Tyrol are still closed due to the current situation, so we asked the innkeepers of a mountain hut in Pfelders if we could cook in their kitchen for professional reasons. They were kindly very accommodating. Thank you for that!

So, from the parking lot in Pfelders, we set off for the Lazinser Alm, where we hike along a pleasant snowy path for about 40 minutes.

This year, there's an astonishing amount of snow here in South Tyrol. We estimate the snow depth in Pfelders to be 1-2 meters. Icicles hang from the gutters of the mountain huts. The snow glistens wonderfully in the morning sun. A true winter paradise!

The piste conditions would have been ideal this winter, it's a shame we didn't have much opportunity to use them this year.

Shooting and Video Production

This time, we're not alone. Tanja and Nadja are with us – two friends who are in front of the camera today for our new product, the "I <3 Kaiserschmarrn" hoodie. They are two true South Tyrolean mountain girls who love and appreciate nature and tranquility in the mountains. Whenever they have time, they set off to either hike or, in winter, go ski touring.

After a strenuous tour in the mountains, the two girls are always happy to relax in a rustic mountain hut and try the different dishes there. They are two real Kaiserschmarrn lovers and believe that this sweet dessert is simply part of hiking.

That's why today, with just a few simple ingredients, they conjured up a vegan Kaiserschmarrn that's almost identical to the original and certainly delicious. It's served with lingonberry jam and, of course, powdered sugar as a topping – as it should be! ;-)

Finally.....

We finished our great trip with a communal house punch, which the friendly innkeeper offered us. Although it was a bit cold at -14 degrees, it was a wonderful day overall and the entire Bergmensch team had one thing above all: fun!
